Two days away before the curtains come down on the 2014 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), only 4 of the 177 vessels remain to cross the finish line here on Simply Beautiful Saint Lucia. From since the kick-off over in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 24th, 173 boats have safely made the 2700nm trans-Atlantic crossing and have all been greeted to a hero’s welcome at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina in the northern town of Gros Islet. Since arriving on Saint Lucia, ARC participants have enjoyed a variety of activities including visits to historic and cultural sites. They also got a chance to sample the various street festivals i.e. Friday night Gros Islet, Anse La Raye and the Dennery Fish Frys. ARC participants not undertook some environmental conservation through waste recycling but also participated in what has become the annual Tree Planting exercise done in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Production, Fisheries and Rural Development. They were also fortunate enough to get a small taste of Christmas in Saint Lucia via ‘Fete Kweyol,’ held between the Baywalk and JQ Rodney Bay Shopping malls. The 2014 ARC will come to a close on Saturday December 20th with a grand Prize Giving ceremony scheduled for 5:00pm at the Beausejour In-door Facility. #arc2014 #arcstlucia

Two days away before the curtains come down on the 2014 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), only 4 of the 177 vessels remain to cross the finish line here on Simply Beautiful Saint Lucia. MINISTRY OF TOURISM HOSTS ARGENTINIAN DELEGATION FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR The Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries will be hosting a delegation from the Argentinean Ministry of Tourism for the second consecutive year. The three member team will be in Saint Lucia from Wednesday 26th – Saturday 29th November, 2014. While on island, the representatives are scheduled to meet with Minister for Tourism Hon. Lorne Theophilus, Maritime Consultant Mr. Cuthbert Didier as well as Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, to discuss the progress on the International Bi-lateral Co-operation Project between Saint Lucia and Argentina. As part of the project, the Argentinean Ministry of Tourism will be offering a series of Online Training Programs to individuals within the maritime sector as well as those from other tourism sub-sectors both public and private. The e-learning courses being offered are Introduction to On-Line Marketing, Environmental Management in Tourism and Quality in Tourist Service Management A number of industry partners as well as private sector organizations were invited to register persons for the various courses, including the St. Lucia Tourist Board, St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, Invest St. Lucia, IGY Rodney Bay Marina. The delegation is scheduled to officially introduce the programme to persons who have registered on Friday November 28th, 2014 from 9:00am to 4:30pm on the 7th Floor, Conference Room, Department of Planning and National Development, Waterfront. The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, which spans 2700 miles, is the largest annual transatlantic event of its kind in the world. ARC+ Cape Verde sets sail from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Then Headed To Saint Lucia

The second edition ARC+ Cape Verde set sail from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Sunday 9th November 2014, bound for Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands. A brisk northerly wind provided near perfect sailing, with just a one metre swell making it a little rock and roll for some. The 51 boat fleet are set to enjoy some textbook tradewind sailing for the first part of their Atlantic crossing.

SAINT LUCIANS & THE WORLD ENCOURAGED TO ‘TOUCH THE TOP OF THE MOST ICONIC ROCKS IN THE CARIBBEAN’

SAINT LUCIA (September 2, 2014) – #saintluciarocks will become the latest call to action as the Saint Lucia Tourist Board launches a highly interactive fun-filled social media campaign involving the island’s iconic twin peaks – The Pitons.

#saintluciarocks is a five month campaign that will run from August 11^th – December 31^st, 2014, with the goal of showcasing Saint Lucia as the coolest Caribbean vacation destination, through the use of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

As part of the campaign, Saint Lucians and visitors alike are being encouraged to share imagery via social media of themselves, friends and family ‘Touching the Top’ of the iconic Saint Lucian Pitons, in any unique way they can imagine always tagging the photo with #saintluciarocks

“Like the National Flag and the Saint Lucia Parrot, the Pitons are etched into the social fabric of our nation”, noted Director of Tourism Louis Lewis.

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for a decade now, the iconic twin peaks are synonymous with Saint Lucian identity. “What better call to action can there be than to have all citizens and our many visitors alike who are greeted by their stunning beauty upon entry to our shores, to symbolically reach out and attempt to ‘Touch the Top’ of the Pitons,” exclaimed Lewis.

Visitors and Saint Lucians can ‘Touch the Top’ of the Pitons from many vantage points including the two viewing sites upon entry into Soufriere and Tete Paul.

To ensure a highly successful campaign, the Tourist Board has rallied all industry partners by way of encouraging them to inform their friends and clients to ‘Touch the Top’ of the Pitons and share their photos via social media.

The campaign is being supported by robust digital marketing, print advertising, public relations and a direct push to consumers by members of the tourism industry as a whole and regional marketing managers in key overseas markets.

Numerous prizes will be given away as part of the promotion, including a trip to Saint Lucia.

Awarding winning on-island resorts to offer Staycation rates to Caribbean consumers!

SAINT LUCIA (August 4, 2014) – The island’s prime promotions and marketing agency – the Saint Lucia Tourist Board - is about to launch yet another innovative and exciting campaign geared directly towards Caribbean travellers.

Building on the tremendous success over the years of the Staycation programme that has allowed Saint Lucian nationals to play and stay at world renowned on-island hotels and resorts at exceptionally discounted prices, the new regional campaign will extend to include Caribbean consumers.

Dubbed ‘Caribcation,’ the region-wide initiative will be launched on August 4^th, 2014.

The objective of this promotion is to provide added incentives to Caribbean consumers to choose Saint Lucia as their preferred getaway spot for the summer months of August and September.

“Tourism continues to experience encouraging growth and the Caribbean market has played its part in achieving those successes. As our third largest source market, the Caribbean continues to hold its own, despite constraints facing intra-regional travel,” says Deputy Director of Tourism Tracey Warner-Arnold.

In 2013 the Caribbean market represented 19 percent of overall market share for Saint Lucia, bringing in over sixty thousand stay over arrivals.

For 2014 thus far, Saint Lucia has recorded over twenty-two thousand (22,000) stay over arrivals from the Caribbean market, with the biggest numbers coming from Martinique, Trinidad and Barbados.

In anticipation of the increased arrival of Caribbean guests, several hotels on island have signed up for ‘Caribcation’ and are providing huge discounts on room rates under this promotion.

Geared predominantly for Caribbean nationals, ‘Caribcation’ will allow regional visitors to sample the warmth and internationally recognized ‘excellence of service’ delivered by award-winning resorts across Saint Lucia, at the best prices compared to any other time in the year.
